Oil Massage

A full body oil massage is the most requested treatment on our menu — and the simplest to explain. Warm oil, long unbroken strokes, and pressure set to whatever your body actually wants that day.

At A2 Spa in Majan, Al Barari, our therapists work with plain carrier oils chosen for glide and skin comfort rather than fragrance. That makes this a good starting point if you’re new to massage, if strong scents bother you, or if you simply want an hour of uninterrupted quiet after a long day.

We’re open every day from 10:30 AM until 3:00 AM, so a late finish at work doesn’t have to mean skipping it.

What an oil massage actually involves

The defining feature is the oil itself. Because the therapist’s hands slide rather than grip, the strokes can run the full length of a muscle without stopping — down the back, along the hamstrings, from wrist to shoulder. That continuity is what makes an oil massage feel calming rather than clinical, and it’s why it suits people who find dry or clothed techniques too abrupt.

Oil also serves a practical purpose in Dubai. Between daytime sun, constant air conditioning and fine airborne dust, skin here tends to run dry. A warm carrier oil worked in over 60 to 90 minutes leaves the skin noticeably more comfortable, which is a side benefit most guests mention afterwards even when they came in purely for the muscles.

Where the pressure sits

Oil massage isn’t a fixed intensity — it’s a fixed medium. The same treatment can be a soft, almost sedative session or a firm one that gets into the shoulders and lower back. Your therapist will check in during the first few minutes, and you can ask for more or less at any point without it interrupting the flow.

If you already know you want sustained deep pressure on a specific problem area, deep tissue massage is the more targeted option.

How your session runs

  1. A short conversationWe ask what you want from the session, whether anything is sore or injured, and whether you have skin sensitivities or allergies. This takes two minutes and it changes everything that follows.
  2. Oil and pressure selectedYou tell us light, medium or firm, and mention any preference on the oil. If you’re unsure, we’ll suggest a starting point and adjust.
  3. You settle inUndress to your comfort level. You’re covered with towels throughout, and only the area being worked on is exposed at any time.
  4. The treatmentWarm oil, long flowing strokes, working through back, shoulders, arms, legs and feet. Longer sessions add neck, scalp and hands.
  5. AfterwardsTake your time getting up. We’ll offer water — the most useful thing you can do in the hours afterwards is drink plenty of it and avoid anything strenuous.

Choosing the right oil

Different carrier oils behave differently on the skin. None of them are medical treatments — the choice is about comfort, absorption and how the massage feels.

⚠ CONFIRM WITH CLIENT which of these oils are actually stocked before publishing.
OilHow it feelsBest if you
Light unscented oilNeutral, absorbs cleanly, no fragrance at allAre scent-sensitive, pregnant, or heading straight back out afterwards
Coconut oilSmooth glide, mild natural scent, sits lightly on skinWant a classic warm-climate oil massage feel
Sweet almond oilRicher, slower absorbing, very cushionedHave dry skin and want the conditioning benefit — not suitable with nut allergies
Jojoba oilLight, non-greasy finish, close to skin’s own oilsHave oily or breakout-prone skin, or dislike a greasy after-feel

Allergies matter here. Tell us before your session if you have a nut allergy, eczema, psoriasis, sunburn, recent tattoos or any open skin. We’ll switch to an appropriate oil or recommend a different treatment. This isn’t a formality — carrier oils are applied over the whole body.

Who an oil massage suits

First-time massage guests

There’s nothing technical to prepare for and no strong pressure to brace against. It’s the most forgiving place to start.

Desk-bound professionals

Long strokes across the upper back and shoulders help release the tightness that builds from hours at a screen.

Dry, sun-exposed skin

Between the sun and constant AC, skin in Dubai loses moisture fast. A warm oil treatment can help restore comfort.

Anyone sleeping badly

A slow, rhythmic session in the evening can support winding down. Our 3 AM close means late slots are genuinely available.

People who dislike strong scents

A plain carrier oil means no essential-oil fragrance lingering on you afterwards.

Couples booking together

Oil massage works well side by side — see our couples massage option.

Oil massage compared to our other treatments

“Oil massage” describes the medium, not a single technique — which is why it overlaps with several treatments on our menu. Here’s how to tell them apart.

Pairing an oil massage with a body scrub is a common choice — the scrub clears dead skin first so the oil absorbs better. See spa packages for combined options.

Open until 3:00 AM, every day. Most spas in Dubailand close by 10 or 11 PM. If your working day ends late, or you’ve just landed at DXB, a midnight oil massage is a realistic option here rather than a theoretical one. Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll confirm the slot.

Oil massage — common questions

An oil massage is a full body treatment where warm massage oil is applied to the skin so the therapist’s hands can glide in long, continuous strokes rather than gripping and releasing. The oil reduces friction, which makes the pressure feel smoother and lets the therapist cover large muscle groups without pulling at the skin.

An oil massage uses a plain carrier oil chosen mainly for glide and skin comfort. An aromatherapy massage uses that same carrier oil blended with essential oils selected for their scent and intended effect on mood. If you want the physical treatment without a strong fragrance, the oil massage is the better choice.

Yes. Tell your therapist at the start whether you prefer light, medium or firm pressure, and mention any oil preference or skin sensitivity. You can also ask to change the pressure at any point during the treatment — it won’t disrupt the session.

Sessions run 60, 90 or 120 minutes. Sixty minutes covers back, shoulders, arms and legs. Ninety minutes and above allow slower, more thorough work plus time for the neck, scalp, hands and feet. For current pricing, message us on WhatsApp or call +971 50 806 8788.

In most cases yes, and an unscented light oil is usually the most comfortable option. Please tell us before your session if you have a nut allergy, eczema, psoriasis, sunburn, open cuts or any skin condition, so the therapist can select an appropriate oil or recommend a different treatment. If you have a medical condition or are pregnant, check with your doctor first.

Let us know your preference when you book and we’ll do our best to accommodate it based on the therapists on shift. Mentioning it in your WhatsApp message helps us confirm the right slot first time.

Booking ahead on WhatsApp is recommended so we can hold your preferred time, especially in the evening and at weekends. We’re open every day from 10:30 AM until 3:00 AM, so same-day and late-night appointments are often available. Call or WhatsApp +971 50 806 8788.
